Jerry Springer dies at age 79

Jerry Springer has died at the age of 79. The US talk show host passed away peacefully in his home in Chicago on Thursday while surrounded by his closest loved ones. According to reports from <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2023/04/27/jerry-springer-dead-dies/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TMZ</a>, Springer was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a few short months ago, before his health took a turn for the worse just days before his death. So sudden was his health deterioration, Springer was still working up until a month ago appearing on radio for a local station in Cincinnati. She went on to explain how their relationship unfolded, “Family was always a priority but I think Ben and I both sort of started to grow in different directions,” Taylor said, adding that the decision to separate was not one the couple “took lightly.” “That time apart for each of us to sort of get to know who we are ... I think we have these growth spurts even as adults,” Taylor continued. A retired couple have beaten possibly all odds when it comes to winning the lottery thanks to “simple math”. Jerry and Marge Selbee from Evart, Michigan, are multimillionaires because of a loophole in the gambling game. After retiring in 2003, Jerry decided to follow the lotto closely and discovered that it's easier than he thought to win, saying, “Anyone could have done it.” The retiree inspected the game called WinFall and found that if no one won the jackpot of US$5 million ($7 million AUD), then the money would go to ticket holders with fewer winning numbers. "I looked at the probabilities of the game and it said that when the WinFall actually occurred and no one won the jackpot, that the prize level would go up by a factor of 10," Jerry said on <a href="https://9now.nine.com.au/60-minutes/jerry-and-marge-go-large-lotto-tips-selbee-how-retired-couple-won-39-million/1e5093b5-be35-400f-a142-8ecdf0c289d0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">60 Minutes</a>. "US$50 for a three-number winner and US$1,000 for a four-number winner and the odds were one in, one in 56 and a half for a three-number winner and one in 1032 for a four-number winner." Jerry went on to explain that part of the problem when it comes to playing the lotto is that people think it is structured. "I did not have to be lucky to win. I had to be unlucky to lose." Almost akin to placing a bet on himself, Jerry decided to test his theory and realised that he was right – and quickly came clean to his wife Marge who was all for it. The couple would buy hundreds of thousands of tickets for the WinFall game – but disaster eventually struck when no more tickets were sold in their hometown. Soon the pair had to drive 15 hours to Massachusetts to keep winning a similar style of lottery with the same "loophole" structure, but it was something they were both keen to do. Eventually, they were caught out by investigators but Jerry and Marge were in fact not doing anything illegal. Their story eventually became well known to the point that a film is being made for streaming service Paramount+ and will feature Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston. How is your tennis?” Stiller followed that up with a reply on Monday morning. “I could use some help with my serve but maybe a new doubles team? We can discuss it on set …” he wrote. Of his loss to Nadal, Kyrgios said in a post-match press conference: “This one hurts, because I know that no matches that I played before this are going to get talked about, and it’s been the story of my career." “I played three bloody good matches. I beat one of the guys that had like nearly 60 wins last year and no one remembered that. And everyone will just remember that time where Kyrgios lost to Rafa at Indian Wells or the time that he threw the racquet.” Kyrgios is referring to a moment after shaking hands with Nadal and the umpire, when he smashed his racquet into the ground. Ben Stiller dragged into fiery Kyrgios outburst

Fans of Nick Kyrgios are no strangers to the tennis bad boy's on-court antics. It's part of what makes him so watchable – especially since he so often has the prowess and natural talent to back it up and get the best of the world's top players. But this week at Indian Wells the entertaining Aussie may have let his temper get the better of him during a tense and tight loss to Spaniard Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals. Nadal was able to hang on and clinch the contest 7-6, 5-7, 6-4 – but there were plenty of fiery outbursts along the way to keep the audience enthralled. After being broken in the third, Kyrgios took aim at chair umpire Carlos Bernardes for failing to keep unruly elements of the crowd quiet – with quite a few occasions of people in the crown yelling just as the second serve was about to commence. “How long are you going to let that s**t go on for? How long? How long? How long, bro? How long?” Kyrgios yelled at Bernardes. “If you did something about it before, maybe it wouldn’t have happened. “It happens again and again — and look at the f***ing score! Look at the score! It’s your job to control that, no one else’s. “It’ll keep happening over and over and over again. Say something!” In his defence, Bernardes replied to Kyrgios that he had already instructed the crowd to remain silent. That last outburst came in the third set when Kyrgios made a surprising left-turn by dragging Ben Stiller into the argument. The Hollywood heavyweight was perched in the front row, and when someone in the crowd angered Kyrgios, he called out to that person, “are you good at tennis?” before turning to Stiller to further illustrate his point “Exactly, so don’t tell me how to play. Do I tell HIM how to act?” Kyrgios later revved up the crowd when he won a key point, but Nadal was able to hold serve and creep ahead 6-5. Jerry Seinfeld’s stunning holiday sanctuary may just be one of the most glorious properties you’ve ever seen from a celebrity. The comedian and his wife, Jessica, are looking to offload the Colorado paradise for $19.65 million (US $14.95m). The 27-acreage is frequently visited by the Seinfelds and their three children as they are all avid skiers. Listing agent Bill Fandel told Mansion Global that the pair have decided to sell as their children are older and due to the fast-moving real-estate market The guesthouse that boasts four-bedrooms and adjoins onto the property is also available for $3.65 million (US$2.77m), reports claims. The Seinfelds bought the ski getaway in 2007 for a cool US$7.55 million. The estate has been up for sale in the past as well, including when Jerry tested the waters in 2011, with a price tag of $24 million (US$18.3 million). The couple then had a change of heart and took it off the market within a few months. Colorado is home to many incredible estates that cater to the rich, and this 1,140 sqm rustic lodge with 11 bedrooms, 11 full bathrooms, and three half-bathrooms, is no exception. Built in 1991, the home is nestled persfsctly into the private enclave and offers a perfect holiday spot for family and friends in the small town of Telluride. Seinfeld purchased the main house in 2007, and the guesthouse a year later to use as a caretaker’s cottage. “After the Seinfelds purchased the property, they did a remodel and re-imagined the whole place,” Mr Fandel said. There is a vaulted great room that comes with a stone-surround fireplace, and even offers unbelievable mountain views from the floor-to-ceiling windows. With an updated, state of the art kitchen and other features including a wood-panelled library, game room, gym and yoga room, and a four-car garage – it almost makes the multi-million dollar price tag sound reasonable. Seinfeld, a New York native, dominated the TV line-up in the 1990s with his long-running sitcom Seinfeld, which ran from 1989 until 1998.

Jerry Seinfeld kicked off his first Australian stand-up tour in 20 years by sledging the South Australian capital. The 63-year-old comedian started the show at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, exclaiming, “Oh my God, Adelaide! You know how many years I've been wanting to come to Adelaide? Never. I've never wanted to come to Adelaide.” But it was just some light-hearted sledging from the comedian who’s never visited Adelaide before, as Seinfeld went on to say: “And yet I'm thrilled to be here.” The Seinfeld star is no stranger to poking fun at Australia, who famously joked that Melbourne is “the anus of the world” during his last stand-up tour Down Under in 1998. Despite Seinfeld explaining he meant it as a reference to Melbourne’s “geographical location”, he apologised for any offence caused. “I never said that,” he said during his promotional tour for Bee Movie in Sydney in 2007. “That was so mean of someone to put those words in my mouth. Jerry Lewis rushed to hospital

It has been confirmed that legendary comedian Jerry Lewis was taken to hospital on Friday after developing a serious urinary tract infection. The 91-year-old remained in the Las Vegas hospital over the weekend, with his publicist Candi Cazau revealing he has been treated with antibiotics and is expected to be released shortly. Lewis has experienced a number of health scares over the year, having been hospitalised in 2011 for exhaustion and 2012 for hypoglycaemia. Despite the latest hiccup, the star, who appeared in many movies with actor Dean Martin, is showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, he’s set to travel to Toronto this week to work on a movie. Few shows encapsulate the wholesomeness of 1650s and 60s TV like Leave it to Beaver. And it’s incredible to think that almost 60 years have passed since it was on our screens. What’s even stranger to come to terms perhaps is the fact that Jerry Mathers, who played the lead role of Theodore “Beaver” Cleaver, turned 69 years old last week. So how does Beaver look now? Ben Stiller opens up about cancer diagnosis

Actor and comedian Ben Stiller has today revealed he was diagnosed with an “aggressive” prostate cancer two years ago. The 50-year-old actor revealed the news during an appearance on the Howard Stern Show this morning. "At first, I didn't know what was going to happen. I was scared ... It came out of the blue for me," he said. Stiller was grateful though that the disease was picked up early with the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test. "The PSA test is the only early screener for prostate cancer and, right now, the United States Preventative Services Task Force does not recommend to take the test,” he said. “I think American Cancer Society says you should discuss it at 50. If I hadn't taken the test - my doctor started giving it to me at 46 - I would not have known.” The actor, who is known for his roles in comedies such as Zoolander, There’s Something About Mary and the Meet the Parents trilogy, said the experience has left him with an “appreciation for everything in life”. Stiller is now cancer free and wants to raise awareness about prostate cancer and the PSA test. "This thing saved my life, I gotta say something,” he said. When Jerry Emmett, 102, was born, women in the US weren’t allowed to vote. Yesterday, she played her part in welcoming Hillary Clinton as the country’s first ever female presidential candidate. The centenarian was called upon as an honorary Democratic delegate for the state of Arizona, and cried with joy as she voted in support of Clinton becoming the party’s presidential candidate. “I cried!
